As hard as it is to believe, the end is coming fast. Soon the students will be getting ready to go off to Kindergarten, but before they do, we will be having our Step Up ceremony on June 5 at 10:30 am in the gym.
Here are some frequently asked questions people have about the Step Up.
What time should my child come to school?
Your child should arrive at school at 10:15 am. One family member drops them off at the 85th Street door (the door they always come through) while the rest of the family members go to the Atlantic Avenue door to go upstairs to get their seats. Ms. Robeena and myself will be at the classroom to get them ready. We will begin at 10:30 sharp, as we have another class doing their Step Up after us.
Should my child bring their school bag?
Who can come to the Step Up?
Whoever wants to! This is the one event we have during the year that anyone can come! Grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, friends – everyone who wants to celebrate this achievement!
What should my child wear?
The theme for our Step Up is Hawaii, so something comfortable, yet fashionable. Some suggestions are:
– For Boys: khaki pants, button down or polo shirt, and sneakers or simple black shoes
– For Girls: a simple summer dress and sandals
No flip flops or high heels!
Can I take pictures?
Of course you can take pictures! We just ask that you be mindful of the parents around you. Everyone wants a picture of their child up on the stage! There will be a moment when your child receives their certificate and a family member can come up to take their child’s picture with Ms. Robeena and I. We ask that you hold off on having a picture taken of you with your child until after the ceremony. We have to keep things moving along.
Can I have a copy of the Powerpoint (Slideshow)?
Unfortunately for privacy reasons, we are not allowed to share pictures of the students with other families, even though they were in the class together. So the only time you will see the slideshow is during the Step Up.
How long is the Step Up?
About 25 to 30 minutes.
